60,000 people vaccinated against influenza A in Catalonia


60,000 people have been vaccinated against influenza A in Catalonia in the first week of the campaign. According to Catalonia’s councilor of Health, around 20 per cent of the population, have received their first vaccine shot against the influenza A/H1N1 virus – more commonly known as swine flu. The recently launched vaccination campain is primarily targeted at chronically ill and emergency service staff. In a second phased around 80,000 pregnant women, who are also considered at risk, will receive an adapted jab at primary care centres located throughout the province of Catalonia. 1,514,270 doses of vaccine and a budget of 10,599,890 euros for the implementation of this vaccination campaign are available in Catalonia.
